Thomas Jefferson wanted an economy based on agriculture. He envisioned an America of plantations. He wanted an America where the states had the power. He was opposed to big federal government, big business and big industry. He was opposed to the America that Alexander Hamilton wanted of a large, powerful federal government, a large banking industry, large cities, and a large manufacturing
