Self-serving, blind, political ambition - I don't honestly don't know if it's a "mentality" or a lack of it..

I believe the late great senator Tip O'Neil used to say everything is political and all politics is local. He was right , it was about the early 80s that every event or crisis became politicized, except Tip O'Neil and Ronald Reagan could turn off the polarization after six o'clock, have cocktails and dinner with one another and not be mortal enemies to the death. I think that kind of bs started with the late Lee Atwater and the late Jerry Falwell and all those rabid GOP ers lusting at their power and continued with Newt and Karl Rove et al. And you see where that kind of thinking has gotten us.

It may be sencere or it might not be. If it's from a career politician, then probably it's self-serving only.
