there are somany things to do that do not cost very much or at all. first, contact the las vegas tourism bureau or the chamber of commerce for a copy of the casino magazine they publish every week. if youre out there there will be stands everywhere you go with these magazines for free.
in these magazines, you will find a schedule of performances for that week along with 2 for 1 coupons to some of the best entertainers. your schedule must be flexible to take advantage of some of the offers.
the magazine will prove to be invaluable. it will also give you a map of the strip, along with where the trolley and monorail stops.
to get around quickly and comfortably, th trolley is your best bet. it only cost $.50 per ride or you can buy an all day pass for very little. this trolley will take you on an airconditioned stop to all the major and some casinos off the strip.
my mother and i used the trolley several days. traffic is horrific so if you plan to rent a car be prepared to sit and wait a long time, all the time.
every casino will offer a main act as well as smaller shows. if youre a gambler be sure to register with each casino you visit for their rewards players club. it cost nothing and you get a card to insert into your machine or table youre playing. with this card you earn points based on amount of money played and time spent in their casino.
with these point you can cash them in for extra cash or for show tickets. also, where you decide to stay, ask at the front desk to be introduced to a casino host. it is their pleasure to answer your questions, as well as try to accomodate your wishes. you dont have to be a whale to get the royal treatment always.
every casino is worth going into just to experience the amazing things they have. museums at the bellagio are usually free, you can see larger than life sculptures of the roman empire at cesars along with their floating glass flower ceiling.
jimmy buffets is a fun place to eat the decor is very costal the wait staff is friendly and the prices reasonable. also be so sure to go to the rio, their floating mardi gras parade is free and its something you will never forget!!!!!
every casino has something different to offer the best ones we found with variety, ambience, and free stuff was the mgm, the venitian, the rio, paris, new york, and the mirage.
be sure to carry an insulated bottle water holder with you everywhere you go, because dehydration and heat stroke are very possible should you decide to try to walk the strip.
also, purchase your bottled water at the cvs on the strip, if you decide to use the ones left in your room they charge at high rate and it will automatically be put on your bill.
also, any casino you are in, should you get thirsty for water, just go up to a waitress or to a bar and ask for a bottle of water. its free and has their logo on the bottle, they want you to walk around drinking their water!
we took with us a little insulated cooler on wheels with a pull handle. made it great for carrying our drinks as well as storing our purchases as we visited almost all the casinos.
be sure to see cesars fountain show at night, get there early so you can get a good place to stand, its free and beautiful. we went up the eiffel tower in paris, but in my opinion it was costly and very very cramped and the view was limited once you got up there.
the stratosphere was a disappointment. its sits far up on the strip, the view at the top from the restaurant at night is unbelievable, but the wait is long even with reservations you may wait 2 hours, the food is nothing to write home about, the service was poor and the prices are extremely high. plan on spending about 130.00 per person and that doe not include and alcohol you may want or the tip. after getting seated it took 45 mins before a wait staff even acknowledged we were there, and i noticed that seemed to be the tone with everyone there. i will not be revisiting that particular casino again.
i hope you have a wonderful trip! i sure did and would go back in a heart beat, especially now that i know my way around, where to go, and what to see.
the mirage and treasure island have free outdoor shows which we enjoyed also.
good luck!!!
