Had it not been for an accident when he played minor-league baseball within the St. Louis Cardinals farm system. We might not have heard this man's wonderful voice! Reeves' singing career was launched while working as announcer on KWKH Radio in Shreveport, Louisiana. Singer Sleepy LaBeef (Hank Williams) could not make it on time for a performance on the Louisiana Hayride,Reeves was asked to fill in.

My favorite is "He'll Have to Go," which earned him a platinum record.
Even though he was a part of the Nashville Sound he was still great!

To Katie: This question is exactly where it should be. There is a huge difference between Classical Music and Country Classic Music. The song writers and the artists of these Country Classic songs are the back bone of country music. They are what country music is all about. Research a few articles on The Bakersfield Sound. That's where it all began

I grew up with my dad playing Jim Reeves nonstop. My favorite song of his is That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine, followed closely by Distant Drums.

Song: In the garden
Album: God Be With You
[" God Be With You " CD]

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known.

(He speaks and the sound of His voice)
(Is so sweet the birds hush their singing)
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known...
