Most of you are missing the point! It's STATUTORY rape. The law is there to protect young people. (Those not yet of the LEGAL age of consent.)The law varies vis-a-vis age of consent from state to state. She is HIS teacher! The person who said "how would you feel if SHE was 17 and HIS student" is right; the point is the law is supposed to apply EQUALLY to all. The opportunities for abuse here (student/teacher) are enormous. And, FYI, it happened here, in AZ, in Chandler or Gilbert (I forget which city, Metro Phoenix anyway) and HIS parents brought the charges. Clearly he consented. Clearly she broke the law. Ask yourselves this: what does a 24 year old woman SEE in a 17 year old kid?? I'm not sure someone so emotionally stunted should teach children. IF you feel it's wrong, work to change it! There's a REASON for age limits, and it's clear from most of your answers that the same most of you don't yet meet that age requirement.

Any 17 year old who is going to have sex with a 15 year old is going to rob somthing from the 15 year old who will wish they could get it back years down the road. If its just random sex, they will only be hurting each other, and if they love each other so much that they want to have sex or whatever, than why not wait til they are both 18 instead of just making regrets.

This is a sad situation, and happening every day in schools throughout the USA. I don*t feel that at 17 the boy/girl is completely innocent, and should be held unaccountable. This is sending out a message to teens that they can act on their attraction for an older teacher, and it*s perfectly alright to have sex with them...that as the older person, and a teacher they will be the ones to suffer the consequences....! I don*t feel that it is appropriate to place a *young* inexperienced teacher in a classroom of teenagers either....the age is often too closely linked...and there is not any respect or leadership. Schools need to have programs ond counceling for such as this....for both the teachers and the students..alerting them to the dangers and that it will not be tolerated...how and who to go to in such a situation....... (it*s unfair that the teacher looses their license....families....and endures jail time...while the teen walks scott free....)Look at our legal system...some youths guilty of committing crimes of murder..as young as 15 or 16 are being declared competent enough to be tried as adults, so WHO draws the fine line and decides when it comes to sexual happenings?

We did go a bit off when it came to having laws on sex, but this was due to the half-assed attempt to quell child molestion.
Up until nowadays, it was a boy's wet dream to get experience from a teacher, more mature woman, ect. And if you think about it, this is probably the best sex ed they could get...too bad the male counterparts do not function with the same ideal in mind...they usually go for their own ego, power/control, & simply for the young sex for themselves...reason for the law making craze to begin with.
If you think about it, in a couple more years, their age difference will be meaningless...go figure the sense of making the big deals...Sells newpapers & t.v. ratings? Gives coffee-clutch groups something to talk about? Distracts from the real sex issues men create with thinking with the inapporpriate heads? All of the above??? LOL

No, I haven't heard of that one yet but they're are so many incidents between student and teacher making woopie it's ridiculous they were both in the wrong but he gets away with it because he's a minor and she's a teacher!
I mean this kind of thing happens everyday to regular people like men and younger girls and they never get charged with anything!

Regardless of whether he wanted it or liked it, there is a distinct power differential and level of maturity btw a boy and a young woman who happens to be a teacher.
It's not right to exploit the vulnerability of an inexperienced and impressionable person of a young age.
I don't believe she deserves criminal punishment but she does deserve a serious reprimand and to lose her job.

I think he like the fact that he got some from an older teacher. Because all the football players probably thought she was hot, and he is glad that he is the one who got to her first.
