This is a reagular triangle. On the left "outter" side is the number 13. Inside the triangle in the left bottom corner is 39 degree. And on the bottom "outter " side on the triangle is 17. I hope this makes some kind of sense. What I need from 13, 39 degree, and 17 is the total area. Please Help? :)

Divide the triangle into two right triangles...
cos 39 x 13 = 8.1 (triangle height)
13^2=8.1^2+x^2
(169-65.61)^1/2=x
x=10.16
(10.16x8.10)/2=41.15 Part A

17.1-10.16=6.94
(6.94x8.1)/2=28.12 Part B

Part A + Part B = 69.27 ANSWER

So it sounds like you have a triangle with one side having a length of 13, another side having a length of 17, and the angle inbetween is 39 degrees.

Orientate it so that the "17" side is on the bottom and horizontal to the ground. This is the base. Now we have to find the height. Draw a line from the top corner, perpendicular to the base. This is the height. Label it h. Notice that this forms two right triangles. On the left side, you have sin (39) = h/13. So h = 13sin(39).

The area of a triangle is half of the base times the height, so it's (1/2) * 17 * 13 sin(39). Calculate this out and you have the area in square units.

all triangles are the same. Multiply any two sides by themselves and then divide by two. 13x17=221 divided by 2 = 110.5...The degree number is put in just to confuse you.
And wonder of wonders this is the only thing that I learned in high school that has actually applied to real life situations. I am a Real Estate Appraiser and I use this to determine the square footage of odd pieces of land.
Good luck

the formula for the area of a triangle is 1/2BH so in other words you have to find your base length and your height multiply that and then muliply it by 1/2
