Did you remember to remove the protective tape? (It happens - once I thought my printer was shot because I put in all new cartridges and nothing printed -- I finally found out I forgot to remove one of the tapes.)

After you install a new cartridge, did you run printer maintenance? Open a document and click File, Print. When the printer window comes up, see if there is a tab for Maintenance and an option to "clean the print heads."

There might also be an option to clean the nozzles. If so, run
it.

If your printer isn't too old, you might consider going to Dell's website and contacting a rep for a "chat." Dell also has forums where users help users. Someone there might have had the same problem.

First, you must list the model of printer you are using. If you are getting a printhead error it is quite likely that your printer utilizes printheads apart from the regular ink catridges you installed. You need to open up the printer cover and remove the regular print catridges you have installed. Once you have remove the print catridges look below the ink bays you should find that there are some smaller print catridges there. Usually, there are about four. Those are your printheads. You probably need to replace some or all of them.
Warning!!!! depending upon the model of printer you have this can be a very expensive proposition.

Enjoy your computer.
