The car most of the time drives well. but recently it takes a long time to catch speed and it makes the car ride feel really bumpy and not smooth. It jerks forward and what not to catch up to speed What can it be? Thanks. It's a 1988 cadillac deville with Auto Tranny.

a transmission is so complicated that i wouldn't even want to guess but regardless what is wrong you're going to need a new tranny.

my van did the same thing , i got the thing up in the car jacks and slowly took the cover off , so that the fluid would drain to one corner, go slow to keep the mess down, after you get the cover off , clean it out really good, it's probably full of black clutch debree , replace the trany filter, it will be heavy with the same stuff, with the new filter it comes with a new gasket, use a little permatax to hold the gasket in place , put the pan back on , but don't over tighten the bolts, just snug tight, fill it up , about 6 qts. of AFT. DONOT over fill., my van drove perfect again, if it never been changed, your trany might not work right, but if not all you are out is 50 bucks , not a different trany , but really i think all you need is a filter and fluid change, good luck and let me know how it turns out.
