5x - 2y = 5
y - 5x = 3
y = 3 + 5x
5x - 2(3 + 5x) = 5
5x - 6 - 10x = 5
-5x -6 = 5
-5x = 11
x = -11/5
y = 3+5(-11/5)
y = 3 - 11
y = -8
Check:
5x - 2y = 5
y - 5x = 3
5 ( -11/5) - 2 (-8) = 5
-11 + 16 = 5
True
(-8 ) - 5(-11/5) = 3
-8 +11 =3
True

this is like a system of equations

sort them into same way and add them

5x-2y=5
-5x+y=3
y=-8

sub back into equation one
5x-2(-8)=5
5x+16=5
5x=-11
x=-11/5

5x - 2y = 5 and y - 5x = 3
-2y = -5x + 5 y = 5x + 3
y = 0.4x + -0.4

5x - 2y = 5
-5x + y = 3
________
0x - y = 8
y = -8

y = 5x + 3
-8 = 5x + 3
5x = -11
x = -11/5 or -2.2

5x-2y=5
y-5x=3
y=5x+3

5x-2(5x+3)=5
5x-10x-6=5
-5x-6=5
-5x-6+6=5+6
-5x=11
-5x/-5=11/-5
x=-11/5

y-5(-11/5)=3
y+11=3
y+11-11=3-11
y=-8
