Mirena!
You can use it even if you are nursing. Doesnt hurt anything.

Nursing is NOT an effective way to prevent pregnancy. Its a good way to end up with a second child too soon!

Mirena is The SAFEST and most EFFECTIVE bc you can use.

Has less of a pregnancy rate than getting your tubes tied, but wont hurt your fertility. When/if you are ready for another child, you get it removed (simple 5 minute doctor visit), and your fertility goes back to normal right away. The pill/shot/patch/ring can make it hard to get pregnant later

An IUD/IUC (intrauterine device, contraceptive). Mirena is a type of IUC that is recommended for women who have recently given birth and don't want to have another baby for awhile. It is over 99% effective, and it stays in for up to five years, depending upon what you want. It's safe if you're breastfeeding, too!

I have Mirena (a new IUD) and love it. You don't have to remember to take a pill every day & my periods are veeeeery light. It stays in for five years and I can have it removed whenever. I have just as high a chance to get pregnant now than I did before I had it inserted (during an office visit which took all of five minutes). Good luck!

The answer depends on whether or not you are nursing. If you're nursing, abstinence and/or a diaphragm work best with condoms as backup.

If you're NOT nursing, get on the pill if you're under 35.
If you're not nursing and are over 35, talk to your doctor.
