I am sooo happy to be pregnant. This is our third child and it took us a while to conceive this one, so I feel extra lucky that it finally happened. The only thing is why do I feel a bit sad or just like, not wanting to do things?? I never felt this way with my other two. Is this ok?? I never had after birth depression with my other two either (boys), maybe its a GIRL?????

I think maybe it is the stress of trying so hard to get pregnant its like preparing for christmas you work hard getting all the gifts together then the excitement of watching the kids open the gifts then after that you sorta get depressed like its all over so fast. I think you probably worked so hard getting pregnant that now your hormones are a little off and its easy to get a little depressed when you think of the 8 and a half month process of doctors, and pregnancy issues, before this new bundle of joy arrives. and yes maybe it's a girl... we are more emotional you know.

I wish you and your new baby the best

Normal! Remember, every pregnancy is different. I'm pregnant now, 8 weeks, and I'm short of breath this pregnancy. I walked and did aerobics before I got pregnant with this baby, but now just carrying laundry up the stairs gets me winded.

The sadness and not wanting to do things is probably due to hormonal and chemical shifts, kind of like PMS. Some women feel a little blue. To help remedy this, put into practice every day something that really makes you happy.

As for not wanting to do things, try to force yourself to do some things every day. I have a marker-board in the kitchen and I list 7 things that need to get done that day. As I get them done, I check them off and leave them for hubby to see. That way I not only force myself to do things, but I feel a sense of accomplishment that makes me happy. Allowing yourself to give in to not wanting to do things can make you feel resentful of yourself and add to your sadness.

If this persists or becomes stronger, see your doctor.

don't go to thinking this proves it's a girl.
You're suffering depression early, and you need to talk to your OB. You may need vitamin therapy or have some hormonal imbalance, but you need to talk to your doctor to deal with what's going on.

I lost my nesting instinct with my 2nd baby, and he was in conflict with me in utero and all his life. Some children conflict with their mothers.
