Being "emo" is not defined by cutting yourself and being horribly depressed and sad all the time. Emo is a style...not a life style. Emo is a type of music, a type of dress, and a type of thought. People who cut themselves belong to one and only one group and that group would be labeled as people who are severely depressed and in need of professional medical treatment and therapy. I don't know one person who would say that a requirement of being considered "emo" requires that one cuts themselves. Being emo is a style and you should just worry about having awesome style and being unique!

yeah i see that a lot.... just cause someone has black hair and wears tight pants doesn't neccesarily make them emo. And a lot of emos wear red and grey as well as black. And not all emos have black hair either. You can't really fit anyone into one particular box.

emo is so over... I wouldn't even want to be semi-emo
I just think it's hilarious that emo kids are recycling the hairstyles popular among african-american women during the early 90s and calling it "original"

Don't constrain yourself with labels.
They're stupid.
Don't think of yourself as being semi-emo.
Just be you.
That way you can do whatever you want without worrying about staying within your semi-emo label.

"EMO" is a style; a fad that no one will remember in 2 years...stop talking about it like it's a THING that can be quantified! Even if you are just 14...learn early...

Do you really /have/ to fit into a stereotyped category? Don't aim to fit into one, as previous answers have said, that'd mean you actually fit into the 'poser' category. You're not 'half' of any youth subculture.
