my windows cd will not format my hard drive. It says that it cannot locate the hard drive

Then most likely you have a virus, and will not be able to fix your harddrive, take it to a professional and mayby they can go on, with their soft ware, and fix it that way, sorry for the bad news.

Hi. Double check the cables, power and data. Karz is probably right though. The old drive can be used as a slave drive to try and recover any important data.

Take it to a data recovery specialist. Most offer a free diagnostic and will tell you what the problem is. I've used these guys in the past.

It is not corrupted, it is dead. Make life easier, buy a new one. They are very cheap nowadays.
