what the hell are you smoking? put the pipe down bro! even if you are an athlete it would still be near impossible to perfect your game enough at the caliber to play mens professional tennis. you wouldnt even have a shot at beating a retired pro woman.

Hi! Well I've heard of something called a "Senior Tour" for professional tennis players aged 30 or above, so I think your age would be fine. What kind of professional tournaments are you hoping to play in? I'm guessing the US open? I don't know if you would be able to learn professional tennis in time if you're already 28 years old, but if its what you want to do, go for it, just don't invest too much in it. Maybe try training for a year and ask a professional coach how good you are and if you have a chance.

I know many people will say " you can do anything if you put your mind to it!" etc. That's fine. But let's have a dose of reality.

If you have never picked up a raquet in your life, as you imply, then you have 25 YEARS less experience then a pro at your age. That pro has no doubt been practicing everyday for most of his or her life (more than 6 hours per day fyi) and has been receiving professional training for decades.

If you practice, say, 12 hours a day for the next ten years, under the supervision of a serious professional, and if you have the talent (that's a HUGE if) then maybe you will be good enough to play in the seniors tournaments (which are available to people 35 years old and older).

The odds are certainly against your winning the US open tennis tournament.

If you practiced 10 hours a day for the next 10 years you would still be about a million groundstrokes away from competing with professionals. Not only that, but there is no physical possibility for you to maintain that training regimen. The human body was not designed to be punished like that. The thought of how many bouts of tendonitis, muscle strains, twisted ankles, sunburns, etc. you would deal with makes me cringe. That being said, if you're still determined, best of luck to you and I hope you prove me wrong. My advice would be to find another profitable career until you are good enough and then become a country club hustler.

It's not very possible you can become a professional tennis player. You might just want to stick to making tennis a hobby of yours. But good luck on whatever you decide.

No 14 years old is not too old to start playing tennis. Even though I have been playing tennis since I was 7 I see girls 14 years old around me just starting to play. And making tennis just as a hobby is not too late becoming a pro would be too late. Have fun! Good luck! And tennis is a fun and great hobby!

dude... are you stoned?? cuz if u r cut down on the crack man it isn't good for you. you are 28!!!!!!!!! that is the same age if not older than the pros and they started trainning since like 6 or 7 years old!!! they train for like 20 years and way longer than just 6 hours a day to becom pros!! you are 28!!! after twenty years you will be like in ur 50s your skills might be as good as the pros by then but you won't have any hope in competeing in tournaments like the us open any more cuz most players retire around the age of 30!! dude stop getting stoned!!

nice hopes, but you'd have to climb a ladder of thousands and start with local open tournaments, then challenger tourneys, and if you can get out of those, then move to satellites and major qualifiers. 28 is very old in the tennis world, so best of luck but there are leagues and tourneys that go until 80+, so a senior tour might be in your future

I guess it is possible, but you've got to remember that the pros have been playing since like age 4, so the ones your age have already got 24 years of experience on you. I think you should learn to play, but dedicate all that time to something else.

possible, yes. Probable, sorry no. Most athletes begin there training at a very young age and are, for the most part retired from there sport by the time they get to your age. However there are many amateur tournaments you could compete in, my mother in-law is well into her 60's and still plays in many Palm Springs tournaments.

umm..28 i think is a little too old for professional tennis (sry no offense) because in pro. tournaments you'll probably play someone younger and its a possibilty that they will be faster. But dont give up your dream, go for it.
