really annoying hum comes from my computer speakers, even when i use my headphones , i have system setup for stereo speakers with an amplifier but i cant get rid of this hum . it is not like feed back more of an electrical power hum .

Probably from the power supply of the amplifier. Since you probably use a plug-in type power supply ("wall wart", "wall bug") - it could be in there. Try using a different one - make sure it's the same voltage and equal or higher current rating. You can get a replacement at Radio Shack, if they don't have the exact one, they have "universal" ones, meaning selectable voltage and plug configuration. To verify this, if you can (to eliminate the sound card as the problem) - use another set of speakers on your computer, and/or your speakers on another computer. If another set used on your computer does not hum - it's in the speakers; if the other set still hums - it's coming from inside the computer - the sound card maybe. If your speakers used on another computer hum - it's your speakers - not the sound card; etc. - you get the drift.

ithe same thing happened 2 me. It was that the wire going from the computer to the speakers was loose. Hope this helps - Jake
