I too have green eyes and am told all the time how pretty my eyes are (not to brag but lol) I line my eyes with a sharp black pencil (not inside the eyelid though, that makes eyes look smaller) line the top lid right above the lash line; and the bottom right under the lashes and have the line meet at the outside corners. Take an eyelash curler and curl up the top lashes and then use a black mascara (I use a waterproof Great Lash Mascara so they dont flop after a long humid day).. makes the eyes pop! Sometimes I use either a purple or greenish eyeshadow, or I even use my blush and brush it on my eye lids.

A deep purple would look amazing with a black liner and a bit of mascara.
A gold color with a dark brown liner.
A light pink on the lids and around the edge of the bottom.
Any color brown shadow with a brown liner.
If you are very daring try some red shadow with black liner but try it before you go anywhere it's a big fashion risk but it would make your eyes POP!
The way you made your eyes sound made then seem beautiful so you wouldn't need makeup to make them stand out!

Almay has a line of eye cosmetics that are made for specific eye colors. (The brown looked great with my brown eyes). You should be able to purchase these at teh drug store, and they are not very expensive. The shadow comes with like 4 colors for you to blend and highlight with. There is also an eyeliner and mascara for green eyes. The most important tip when applying eye color is to use a brush set (not those foam pads that come in the eyeshadow). This will allow you to truly blend and get the best results for what you spend.
You can also go to the department store and find the Clinique cosmetic area. These women are trained to help you find the best shades for your features. Happy shopping!

I have hazel eyes and I find that a copper metallic lid color makes my eyes pop as far as a liner I always use black or a deep brown. Also I use the earth tones besides the copper and when I use earth tones I mix the colors in such a way that my eye looks defined Hope this helps!

Green is my favorite color, go with something that does not take away from your natural beauty! (earth tones?)
