It depends on where you live. Go to your local licensing /registration office (as the names of these vary form country to country, & state to state), grab a road rules hand book & READ what it says about lane splitting.

I think what your really asking is if it's legal to drive between cars and the answer is yes. If traffic is moving under 20 mph i believe then it's ok. I personally have went around 30 to 40 mph between cars around a cop and never got pulled over. You should keep your eyes wide open for cars changing lanes and be the most alert defensive driver possible. Ride safe!

Depends where you are. There are no laws that say you can. Some states have laws that say you can't. 2 motorcycles in a single lane is "sharing", not "splitting". There is a difference.
Read your own laws, I know mine.

Did the bike rear-end you or fender-bend you? meaning hitting your back or edge? If rear-ending that's often going to be the biker's fault, for rushing and not protecting a protection distance. If fender-bending then it relies upon. on the 2nd of effect if all 4 of your wheels are already interior the lanes then it will be the motorbike's fault; in any different case, it will be your fault for no longer paying interest to the site visitors whilst changing lanes.....

Isn't that what they are for? I blow thru traffic all day long splitting the lane. Don't listen to anyone it's your right to go whever you want on a bike, split the lane, go around cars and ride however you want. THE ROAD BELONGS TO BIKES.

Lane splitting is a grey line. There is no real law in the California DMV handbook about it. If a police officer feels its an unsafe act he can pull you over.

it's legal in california. most states other than california either make it illegal, or doesnt even mention it. and it's legal for 2 bikes to ride side by side in the same lane. not all that safe, but still legal. i prefer to ride in a staggered formation

It depends on the state. In California they can ride 15 MPH faster than the slowest vehicle. In Texas and Oklahoma it is illegal
