Most monitors only work for a limited amount of hours before they fry. PLus it's more eco-friendly to turn off at night.

My step son had an old Pent. 266 with a Systemax 19" monitor that he kept on 24/7 for the past 8 years. Never had to replace anything. In fact the the P 266 is still running - however he has joined the 21st cent. and now uses a AMD Turion laptop.

My computer stays on. I turn my monitor off after every use.

Incidentally, you are going to get a lot of arguments on both sides of the fence regarding a computer being left on 24/7!

Do not leave your pc on for 24/7.

This is a high wastage of energy which is ruining the planet you live on. With that out of the way, I do not reccomend leaving your pc on for one reason, while you are out, at a friends etc, some little spotty teen or whatever, will have a happy time hacking your pc

I think it is best to turn your whole system off at night. When you turn it on in the morning, don't have the printer or scanner on unless you're actually going to use them. Unplug their adaptors from the power bar, in fact. After you've used your computer first thing in the morning, put it in Sleep mode until you're ready to use it again. (In XP, go to the Start Menu, choose Turn Off Computer, then choose Standby.) Just hit any key to start it up again. Do this repeatedly throughout the day as needed.

I shut mine off when it's not in use. At least when I'm done for the day. No sense running it all night while I'm asleep or all day when I'm not home. It's wasting energy that we are trying so hard to conserve to just leave it on for no reason. Think Green!!

nicely, no longer a ton. i do no longer think of you may save lots, yet its nicely worth doing i assume. i could besides the shown fact that reccommend purely putting it to standby (which makes your laptop use basically a pair watts) or hibernating quite than shutting it down in spite of the undeniable fact that. purely as a results of fact it particularly is quicker to start back up. human beings that are asserting computers use a TON of power are incorrect. computers are very effective espcially while they are not in use. yet another tip: set it to circulate to standby after being idle a couple of minutes. do no longer set it to screensaver, it does not save power.

Shut your computer off, it catches viruses and gets slow if you leave it on all the time.
