My favorite toys were an action figure line called "Comic Action Heroes" made by National Periodical Publications and manufactured by Mego, I think. I had Superman, Batman, Robin, Shazam!, Wonder Woman, The Hulk, Spider-Man, the Joker, the Penguin, and Aquaman. The figures were made in 1975, and were poseable with articulated shoulders, hips, waist, and neck. Their knees and elbows were sculpted at 30 degree bends, so they were standing in a sort of hunched position. The line was important for two reasons: one, it was the first major toy line to feature both DC and Marvel characters in the same scale, and two, each figure came with a stand or base, molded to look like a block of rough rock that had the character's name on the front, making it the first action figure line meant to serve as a toy and as a display item.

My favorite toy as a kid was a stuffed dog that my parents sent away for from proofs of purchase from dog food. It was a stuffed dog and I named it P.U.P.P.Y. because my mom would ask my grandma on the way out the door do you have the P.U.P.P.Y. because if they said the puppy, I'd want to hold it, and they were always scared I would lose it. I didn't realize P.U.P.P.Y. spelled puppy until I learned how to read.
