Some people say no to drugs, but drugs don't listen

I think for most people it's an escape from the stresses and problems of life. How ironic then that drugs so often create even more stress and problems.

Hedonism is, I think, a subset of escapism.

And inner wisdom? Not unless the drugs in question are nootropics.

Hi kingfisher's,

I have migraine headaches & I am only allowed so many pills in a 24 hour period & if I still have it I can't function meaning, no sound, no light & I certainly no work. The only thing I can do is smoke a joint & yes my doctor is aware of this, he says someday he'll be able to write a prescription for marijuana. Some some people use for medical purposes, recreation, just because. If you believe everything the government says about smoking pot I got some news for you! Have a good day. Inner-wisdom. :0)
P.S. self medicated with doctor's approval even though it's still illegal here & also recreation.

Hedonism? I daubt that one.

Inner Wisdom? Depends on the drug and the person. For inner wisdom, pot, acid, mushrooms. And chanting Hare Krishna.

Escape? Probably the most likely answer.

I believe people "do" drugs because ,they have the false believe that every body has to be happy.
Well this is a fable.Life goes up and down and everybody goes through that. There is a time for everything.
When people "feel" down they think the need something to help them to get over that,They do not realize that the "down" feeling does not last .Some times 2 hours later you feel O.K
Just know that drugs and smoking, are addicting habits. They cost lots of money.

It usually starts with hedonism. Many use drugs initially with friends and join in the use for acceptance into the group.

Drug use, including over-indulgence in certain foods or caffeine, supplies a balance to the chemicals in the brain that may or may not have been present at birth. People gravitate to the substance that suits their chemical make-up.

So, given three choices, I'd have to choose a) Escape. I imagine that chemical imbalance is something to be escaped from.

Given those three options i'd go with a:escape. Although some have claimed in the 60's mostly that they used drugs to reach a "higher level of consciousness". I think they were really just looking for a "lower level of unconsciousness...

I think some people do drugs to escape from their real lives, escape from the daily stresses and pressures...that kinda stuff.

Dude, it depends on the person!!! I can't generalize EVERYONE!!! I do them for fun, but a lot of people do it as a way to escape which is not a good reason at all!
