Nothing even matters! Sure, I could change other people's lives, but what does it matter if we're all just going to die anyway?

What's the point of eating a hot fudge sundae, if you're just going to poop it out? C'mon! The point is, enjoy it while you've got it!

Does anybody understand the true nature of the soul?..where does it come from and where does it go? The body is only a vessel that contains the soul, but the body is a product of this world and will remain it it when it decays. The soul, which is you, your heart and your essence does not seem to end at that. People who die momentarily and are revived retain the same soul. why is that?
I believe that the soul is eternal. If I am correct, the point of each life is dependent on what you serve and love. Different for everybody but the same in many important ways for those who unite in principles and convictions. The question of "the point in life," in my view, does not change simply because the body dies. life resides in the soul, and this is still not understood by man. That is why people search for knowledge that may have been given to man form another source. There has been only one person to ever defeat death, and return. It was witnessed by hundreds, and his closest friends were systematically murdered because the would not stop saying what they had seen. This has been documented in biblical as well as other sources. The reasons for this action very considerably, but on the whole it was done by the leaders to try to retain their power over the populace. Odd trade off in my view.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

nothing matters so might as well have fun while we're here. if it makes u feel good to change other peoples lives, fine . DO IT! if not, DONT DO IT!.
just have FUN and BE HAPPY!!!
just dont hurt others. chances are if u hurt others, it'll come back to you...before u die.

You know, I wish I could argue with that, but I can't. I know we weren't always meant to die--there was a time we should have lived forever, but that's not how it is now. We are going to die anyway, that's true but, hell! we're here and that's a fact so we might as well make the best of it. What are you gonna do? Commit suicide to speed up the process? I do not recommend taking that route!!

For me, it is the battle against aging and time that makes life interesting. I exercise, eat right, every day. My final goal is to live to age 120. Everyone around me has a "I quit" attitude toward the challenges of life. I thrive on them. I change other peoples lives on this questions and answers page.

I hope this helps. Sure we will all die. But let our death be sorrowed by many!!

Well let me put it this way: You're going to go to sleep tonight, right? Well then, why not go to bed right now? Could it be because in the meantime, there are other things you want to do?

The fact that life is finite makes it all the more important to enjoy it and to lead a good life in the time you have. Just because death is (probably) inevitable doesn't mean you can't have some fun first.

Your question makes you sound like a nihilist. Nihilists believe that life is pointless, but IMHO it's nihilism itself that is pointless. Your purpose in life is for you to discover, or create, for yourself. You've got free will; USE IT!

The more religious among us would say that G-d has a master plan, the entirety of which we are not privileged to know. Each and every action will effect the fulfillment of of this plan.

The less religious among us would say that we are living for the NOW, not for the FOREVER. So, we must act in a way so as to make life pleasant for both ourselves and others. I think that DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE OTHERS DO UNTO YOU pretty much says it. Of course, the non-religious among us would agree that on a cosmic level NOTHING matters, but I will reiterate: We must live for the NOW.

I was once told this (who knows where it came from or if it's true) that a person keeps coming back to new lifes here on earth till they get their life here perfect. So each time you need to add to what knowledge you gained the time or times before your present life. That if you get tired coming back to go thru it all again, it's best that you make your present life the best you can. ha.

If you think there is nothing else, then yes, nothing matters. However, I suggest you keep researching, because I have discovered that there is definetly something else on the otherside. That changes everything, especially for a thinker like you.
