Circa 1876
1." Adios Amigo. See you the next time I venture South of the border." U.S.Marshal Matt Dillon said goodbye to the local sheriff and mounted his stead, heading back for Dodge. He had been tracking 3. El Paso Elmer Fuddinsky for two days.....Finally cornered him in a Mexican cantina. El Paso drew. So did Matt. El Paso Elmer Fuddinsky was laid to rest in Mexico's equivalent of Boot Hill.........El Bota Loma.
As Matt rode along, he looked up at the sky. It was getting late and the few clouds he saw reminded him of a 4. Ribbon of darkness. Occasionally he surprised himself with some of the things that would spring to his mind. He laughed...."Must be Sunshine's influence on me," he mused. Sunshine MacGillicutty was his new girlfriend. She was smart,spunky,funny,sweet and the best lover he had ever known. Yep. Matt had it bad. But not as bad as Kitty Russell. She was rapidly becoming the town drunk as the result of being dumped by Matt, so he could pursue Sunshine. She still pined for him. Many a night the townsfolk of Dodge didn't know if they were listening to the baying of coyotoes or the the mournful sounds emanating from the LongBranch Saloon; Kitty's place.
Matt didn't want to stay away from his SunnyMac any longer than was necessary. He looked at her photograph in his shirt pocket.....7. "Don't worry, darlin'. I'll be home soon. Today 5. I walk alone. Tomorrow I lay down next to you in our bed."
( I hope you'll excuse me. The authoress is having a moment of swooning........Laying next to Matt.........dear GAWD!!.......... Okay, I'm back.) Matt smiled as his mind replayed some of his precious Sunshine moments.............He roared with laughter when he first saw her in those yellow bloomers she had converted into a riding habit. (Outfit) He marveled at the way she could write a song in as much time as it took him to put on his boots. Not to MENTION her culinary skill.
Why, no one knew how to bake a pie like she did.
Her Sweet Cherry, Rang A Dang Dang , Who's Your Momma, Tornados a' Comin' Green Apple Pie was the most delicious dessert he had ever tasted.
And then of course there was the way she made love to him.
She was insatiable......and he loved it. No woman had EVER had the effect on him as she did. Why just thinking about her escapades in the bedroom, livingroom, kitchen, front porch, hayloft and back pew of the church made it a bit uncomfortable for him to be riding his horse. He tried to calm his body by thinking of something funny. Oh yeah!! Then there was the time she came out of the cell area to the main room of his office, wearing only her boots and an Indian head band. He would have carried her off to his wigwag had it not been for the fact that Judge Booker, an elderly gentleman, happened to be with him at the time!! Judge Booker still stutters at any mention of Indian headwear!!
Matt looked at his photograph of his little lover, again............
" I'm 2. Begging to you, sweetheart. Keep the home fires burning. I'll be home as soon as I am able!!" And with that, he loosened his belt, tugged at his pants and headed for Dodge.

Driving along the ribbon of darkness out of El Paso, I think of her last words, "Adios Amigo".
I didn't want to go. I wanted her to say "no, return to me" but she didn't. Instead she looked me square in the eye as she always did and stated, "Sorry, I walk alone this time, I have to".
So now I'm talking to you on this call-in show, crying like a baby as I spill my guts... begging to you the listeners to help me through this night.
Don't say "don't worry", how can I not worry? How can I not worry that she won't fall back into the arms of that guy who beat her? The one I rescued her from, the one who swore he'd make her come back.

I walk alone through a Ribbon of Darkness. My heart is pounding while begging to you to return to me. The only response you seem to give me is an 'Adios Amigo'. Don't worry my love, for I know there will be a new joy to fancy this broken heart of mine once I get to El Paso. Goodbye my friend as I go through this new journey at which I hope to never see you again.

It was a great show. And it was only on for 8 seasons. I would have liked to see the pipers kids grow up and see what great magical powers they had. Maybe one of the reasons it was canceled was because you can only bring the charmed ones back to life so many times.
