In democracy what is that number one,I don't follow. There are oldest,largest and stablest democratic countries in the world.
India is a democratic country with so much freedom that certain citizens are feeling proud in calling their country non-democratic since it was ruled by so and so.
America is a democratic country with so much of patriotism
that every participating citizen is not allowing any one to put their country in second position.
But, freedom and patriotism are the heart and brain of democracy.

No, never. It has largest number of voters only. Quality of democracy is judged by the great & speedy works done by elected democrats & not merely their numbers who never come to people to solve their problem after winningste the whole term in minting money & acquiring properties for ten generations of their family members in just one term.
A true democracy is onewhere no corruption exists & in which the voice of even smallest & weakest citizen is loudly heard in upper & lower houses quickly & not only small but biggest issue is speedily solved. In our country even movement of files takes years with heavy expenditure & longest in the world delays even in INTERNET ERA eliminating entire hope. Of course, NGOs in India are the best , keeping in view the poverty here. In a biggest democracy , cycle rickshaw still exists & whenever a train enters any city of India in the morning , at both sides large number of persons are seen sitting excreting shits with a jug, can or bottle of water clearly showing the acute shrtage of even toilets in their houses, a great fruit of WOLD'S LARGEST DEMOCRACY.
In India at the name of democracy , a monarchy of ONE FAMILY ruled for 40 years of last 60 years & made the setup &people's mentality such that democracy will not flourish until this family is at the top like dictators as if the NIKAH (marriage)of democracy in India is with family only. Whenever this family was out of power, all conspiracies were hatched to topple the existing govt, the best one was Janata Govt which gave sugar at the rate of Rs. 3/- per kg & removed controlled rationing from it in the histoy of India.
If we compare the beauties & cleanliness of our cities even Africans are completely beating us. Our cities look like the same of 11 th century.

YES IT IS THE LARGEST BUT WE INDIANS DON'T EVEN KNOW THE MEANING AND ALSO THE NEED TO BE DEMOCRATIC.
HERE THE POLITICIANS HAVE DEVISED WAYS TO CONTINUE "RAJ SHAHI" IN NAME OF DEMOCRACY WHERE POLITICS HAVE BECOME A FAMILY AFFAIR.
GETTING RID OF SUCH PRACTISES ESTABLISHED BY NEHRU GANDHI FAMILY AND PROPOSING THAT THREE NEXT GENERATIONS OF THE PERSON WHO HAS HELD ANY SEAT IN POLITICAL SYSTEM CAN NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONTESTING FOR AN MLA OR MP BUT CAN REMAIN ACTIVE IN LOCAL POLITICS WILL BRING IN REAL DEMOCRACY IN INDIA WHERE ONE DAY WILL COME WHEN THE LAST PERSON WILL ALSO GET A CHANCE TO BE A PM.

I think in term of population it is.
I think its hurting more then helping to be a democratic country. Everything is politics even cricket. India should be model after China.
