Certain programs within the states were administered with the hope of avoiding abortion and being able to support a child. I am thinking of WIC as one in my state.

Welfare has nothing to do with abortion. Welfare grew out of the government trying to help individuals during the depression, when unemployment was running somewhere near 65%. At first, it was "make do" jobs to give the government an excuse to give money to the unemployed. Later, it was designed as a temporary help when an individual was out of work. It was the democrats who made it available to minority women who had many children but no husband, and encouraged these people to make a life on welfare, not the republicans. You are not only monumentally stupid on history, but also on who is responsible for what.

Wasn't welfare part of the New Deal which was passed by a Democratic Congress and signed by a Democratic President during the 1930's?

Welfare and abortion are not related issues.

Look up policies initiated by FDR during the Depression. Though honestly, I think welfare should be elimated, it just encourages women to have children to avoid working. And as for abortion, there are far too many contraceptives available for abortion to be as mainstream as it is today.

Just where do you get your information from?
Welfare was in no way initiated by the Republican party, actually it was a product of the great depression and it was FDR that started this program, and at that time it was termed "relief" not welfare. Now for the rest of your question, Abortion wa not even part of any political discussion at that time, so please, get your history straight before printing these ridicules statements.

It makes sense that welfare is used in place of abortions to feed all those unwanted babies. However...you are falling short of the mark to make it a race issue. It's our anti-abortion government's way of supporting ANY stupid behavior that results in Irresponsibility. Any color trash can qualify for welfare if they don't work and have unprotected sex.

Welfare is neither democrat or republican. It's bureaucratic in nature and a giant give-away funded by hard-working taxpayers.

Welfare was created by democrats, actually. I don't know where you get your information but look something up about the Great Depression and FDR's New Deal.
And abortion is completely irrelevant.

Oh, you are so wrong on this one!! It was the Democrats who started all of this! You need to go back and study history!! Plus, when JFK was in office, he added even more benefits! He certainly was not Republican.

Your facts are lacking the truth!

Actually "welfare" was initiated by a group that helped animals that were being abused. There was a need to help a child and traditional social work began.
