The problems we have with Mexico are more complicated than that, but we can hope that it's in the right direction.
We can't cast all the blame for illegal immigration on the immigrants. The US is partly at fault for allowing them in, encouraging them in fact, without doing anything to regulate the situation or regularize their status. And Mexico is partly at fault for having so much corruption that people can't make a living there.
So, a more-or-less fair solution to illegal immigration is going to be complicated.
It does need a solution though; the US will be facing increasing attacks from our enemies in the next decades, so we need to control our border. We need to do this in a manner that doesn't upset our neighbors too much, though, as we don't want them siding with our enemies. [In WWI, Germany asked Mexico to join them in exchange for New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona; Mexico said no; and that's what we'd like them to say next time somebody offers them a deal like that.]
Too many of the illegal immigrants (not to mention US citizens) don't understand that the US will be facing a determined enemy in the near future, and that we must protect ourselves. I think it would be reasonable to offer legal status for those who care enough about the US to fight for it in the coming war. But if they just think the US is a convenient way to make extra money, those days are almost over now. I'm not saying anything against somebody who wants to come to make some money, but it may not be as easy as it used to be.

It won't solve our problems with Mexico. I think it will be worse and there will be more illegals than ever.
No one knows the particulars; not even our elected reps. They can't possibly have read it all. I've heard it's 700 pages; another report that it is 1000 pages, and another says 500 pages.
It's rumored that it addresses the North American Union, and if so, that's another reason I hope it is thrown out. The President is really pushing hard for this bill, and that's probably the reason.
Those who support it say it will secure the borders, but how? I have a feeling we're being told what they know we want to hear. I don't buy it.

This bill does nothing if the US does not control its own border. I sympathize with anyone coming here to work but
I also feel it is enabling Mexico to not improve .
Mexico is rich in resources and people . Drastic changes
need to be made to help this nation.

To enter the U.S. legally one applies for a permanent residency or work permit before they are allowed in....that is the way it was and should be....that is the way it works in most country's.....now it has been allowed to be out of control and the illegals think they own the country...what ever happened to law and order.....the new government is pathetic
