I have a Compaq presario laptop. When I put in the disk for 2000, it only goes so far, then stops and does nothing.
Also, my pixels are640x480. The slider will not move to let me change the screen area. Does this have anything to do with it?

The only min. requirements my lapytoppy doesn't meet is the size of the screen area. The slider won't move. Any suggestions?

1st: Load the correct video driver for the the display in WIN98

see if you can set the video to 800x600 if yes, then attempt to load Win2000

I think you should have at least 128mb of ram (min.) too or you will only be working slower.

Did you make sure that the Compaq's Hardware meets Windows 2000 HCL? (hardware compatibility list)

Check your minimum system requirements on the software package and you'll probably discover that you do not have enough RAM to upgrade to Win 2000. There are processor requirements, too, and you may be too "slow" with your old lappytoppy.

will windows 2000 minimum requirements are 64MB of ram,
133MHz Pentium 1,
but to run it will if you get it to install you will need 129MB of ram 266MHz Pentium 2.
and if your doing the upgrade install this start windows 98 and put the CD in and it will ask if you won't to install it.
or if you are installing it by dos let it reed the disc format the hard drive and start fresh
