Never say: Aww, it doesn't hurt that bad, does it?
Never talk about food to her, ie, what you will be eating soon,
especially if her Dr. has requested that she does not eat.
Also, don't talk to her, close to her face, if you have recently eaten- ANYTHING!!
Never say: Is a contraction coming? Has it started yet? Is it almost over? (she does not need the extra stress of answering questions while concentrating on getting through the rushes of labor... meaning contractions) Just watch her face & be intune to her cues & you will know.
A no-brainer: Never say, Ooohhh, gross LOL

the best thing to say when a woman is in labor is nothing , I know when I was in labor I didn't want to hear anyone.

Play it safe and don't say anything at all. And don't call them "honey" or "baby". They've been known to go ballistic around terms of endearment.
