it seems like humans can not exceed 100-105. You would think with all the technology they would be able to.

well, when you try to throw harder, you usually mess up your motion somewhere and then either throw the ball into the dirt or above the catcher. 100-105 is just where the flamethrowers top out because if they tried to throw harder they would mess up thier motion.

What exactly would technology have to do with the throwing of a baseball. Also it is a weird motion that you have to do while playing baseball. However, certain balls can be thrown faster. A baseball is like midway between the max and the minimum

a) you can't throw a baseball faster than 105
b) if you throw it any faster than that. the motion will get messed up along the way. not only do you have to throw it fast, but you also have to get the right position
c) yes, with todays technology you can throw a baseball faster. but you forgot that it's a human being throwing this ball. not a machine.

And there there was Steve Dalkowski. He could throw the ball 110 mph, but he couldn't hit water if he fell out of the proverbial boat.

Pitching has nothing to do with speed. It has everything to do with command, control and movement of your pitches, in order to keep the hitters off-balance, but it has nothing to do with speed. That's called throwing. That's also called a short career, entirely in the minors.

yes with technology they probably would be able to throw harder. however, the are human.
102.3 MPH is the world record for fastest thrown baseball.

Remember - throwing a baseball is an unnatural motion. The shoulder isn't designed to do that. That's why there are so many arm injuries in baseball.

Technology???? What does technology have to do with a human being's physical limits? And believe it or not, 100-105mph is FAST.

How fast can you throw? Can you throw a ball that fast? If not, then STFU. Anyone who can top 90 mph is incredible, and no fan has a right to criticize their play.
Would you rather see some freak with a bionic arm that threw about 200 mph, and breaks the hand of anyone who catches his pitch, and no umpire can see the ball to call it one way or another?
Whatever. . . .

Not really an answer but a question. Why is everyone so angry about the question? It seems like a legitimate question and some people have given legitimate answers, I just don't understand some of the anger, calm down guys.
