Wait a minimum of 6 weeks before replacing the starter post.

Be sure to "turn" the earrings daily, and wipe around the front and back sides with alcohol on cotton balls. Use 18 ct gold when you switch to loops, if possible. You want to wait until your ears are no longer "healing" from the piercing. So when there is no more drainage, and all scabs are gone, and the area is NOT sensitive to the touch, then you should be able to use gold OR cheaper metals.

If you just got your ear pierced on Friday, they should have put a stud or loop in already. Because if they didn't, the hole would close up. You can buy single earrings at various shops that don't have them in a set. But get your hoop put in NOW! ( in case you don't want the hole to close up)

They say to leave a new pierced earring in for 6 months. I know it's long, but it's the right thing to do.I've never seen single earrings for sale.

about six to eight weeks. if you take it out any sooner than that, it will close up, and a loop earing is heavier, so it may stretch an open piercing.
