You're a wicked vixen - - - what is not known about the Titanic, and ten facts - - - arghhhh - - - - here goes, a lot of these are 'debunkers,' corrections of popular misconceptions or clarification of known facts..
1) Manly Military Aide Major Archibald Butt was traveling with the painter Francis Davis Millet, the two were known to be 'bachelor uncles' and were frequent traveling companions and shared several homes together ("not that there is anything wrong with that").
2) No great roles for Women! What about 1st Class Passenger Helen Churchill Candee -- "Candee was traveling in Europe in the spring of 1912 when she received a telegram from her daughter, Edith, informing her that her son, Harold, had been injured in an automobile accident. Candee hurriedly booked her passage home on a new luxury ocean liner, the Titanic. On the voyage, she socialized with other prominent travelers such as President Taft's military aide, Archibald Butt, and the painter Francis Davis Millet. Candee survived the great ship's sinking, in spite of fracturing her ankle while boarding a lifeboat. Candee subsequently gave an interview to the Washington Herald and published a detailed account of her experiences in Collier's Weekly.
During World War I, Candee did nursing in Rome and Milan under the auspices of the Italian Red Cross. One of her patients in Milan was Ernest Hemingway. After the war she traveled to Japan, China, Indonesia, and Cambodia; these experiences became the basis for her book New Journeys in Old Asia (1927). As late as 1935-36, when she was almost 80, Candee was still traveling abroad and publishing articles in National Geographic." Who was a brilliant journalist and one heck of a personality. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Churchill_Candee)
3) Dorothy Gibson not only survived the sinking of the Titanic she starred in the first movie about the Titanic --- "Despite her popularity in comedies, one of her most important parts was that of Molly Pitcher in the historical drama, Hands Across the Sea (1911), Eclair's debut vehicle and her first star turn. By far Dorothy Gibson’s most famous screen role was that of herself in Saved From the Titanic (1912), based on her experiences in the legendary disaster. Saved From the Titanic, released a month after the sinking, was the first of many films about the event.
The episode of the Titanic is the best known aspect of Dorothy Gibson's life. After a six-week vacation in Italy with her mother, Dorothy was returning aboard Titanic to make a new series of pictures for Eclair at Fort Lee. The women had been playing bridge with friends in the lounge on the night of the ship's fatal collision with the iceberg. With two of their game partners they escaped in the first lifeboat launched. After arriving in New York on the rescue ship Carpathia, Dorothy was convinced by her manager to appear in a film based on the sinking. She not only starred in the one-reel drama, but wrote the scenario. She even appeared in the same clothing she had worn aboard Titanic –– a white silk evening dress topped with a cardigan and polo coat.
Although Saved From the Titanic was a tremendous success in America, England and France, no prints of it are known to exist today. It's considered by film historians to be one of the greatest losses of the silent era.""

4) Sister Ship Brittanic never saw service as a passsenger ship, finnished at the start of World War One, Brittanic served as a hospital ship and was sunk in the Mediterranean (mispelled) in 1916.
5) Though an excellent book, Walter Lord's 'A Night to Remember' paints a portrait of the ship's chief baker as a drunk who consumed lots of alcohol and survived by being well insulant by booze. What Lord failed to mention was that the ship's chief baker was a true hero, hustling passengers into boats, trying to encourage others to toss deck chairs into the water, tossing many on his own, he even toyed with the idea of making a raft, when he felt sinking was inevitable he deliberately down a bottle of brandy and credited it with saving his life. Experts now have determined that it was the baker's exertion in the final two hours of Titanic's life that got him pumped up enough to survive several hours in the water.
6) The heroic ships band were musicians. Musicians never get any respect. Despite being Lionized for their efforts at keeping up everyone's morale before drowning, the band got no respect. Their relatives were greeted with a bill from the White Star Line for the loss of the Band's uniforms, and the band members pay was cut by nearly half for their failure to complete the voyage.
(whew I'm getting tired, arn't you // next time stick to Five)
7) Why isn't Hugh Grant starring in the story of Captain Arthur Rostron? The rescuer of the Titanic survivors later Captain the Lusitania, briefly, thus connecting Captain Rostron to two of the mostr famous ship disasters later.
"""Rostron continued commanding the Carpathia for a year before transferring to the Caronia. Afterwards, from 1913 to 1914 he took command of the Carmania, Campania, and Lusitania. Rostron was captain of the Aulania when World War I began and the ship was turned into a troopship which Rostron continued to command. In 1915, Rostron and the Aulania were involved in the Battle of Gallipoli in Turkey.
In September 1915, Rostron joined the RMS Mauretania and in April 1916 he joined the Ivernia in the Mediterranean Sea. He returned to the Mauretania in 1917 before taking command of the Andania, Saxonia, Carmania and the Mauretania again. In December 1918, he was made captain on the acting list of the Royal Navy Reserve and made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1919.
Rostron continued to command the Mauretania after it returned to normal passenger service in June, 1919 and in 1926 he was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. In July, 1928 Rostron took command of the RMS Berengaria and became the commodore of the Cunard fleet.
After his retirement in May, 1931, he was a member and captain of the Southampton Master Mariner's Club and he wrote an autobiography called Home from the Sea. Rostron died of pneumonia on 4 November 1940 and is buried at the West End Church in Southampton, next to his wife Ethel Minnie Rostron, who died three years ""

8) Titanic's rescuer the Cunarder Carpathia met a grissly end; ""Carpathia was part of a convoy when it was torpedoed July 17, 1918 off the east coast of Ireland by German submarine U-55 [3]. 157 passengers and the surviving crew were rescued by the HMS Snowdrop the following day. The last sighting was at 02:45am, just as the stern section sank. American author and diver Clive Cussler found the wreck in 1999 [4][5]."
9) Mourn for the last American survivor of the Titanic -- -- "On 6 May 2006, the last American survivor and the last survivor to have memories of Titanic's sinking, Lillian Gertrud Asplund, died at her home in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Asplund, who was just 5 years old at the time, lost her father and three brothers (including her fraternal twin) in the tragedy. Her mother Selma Asplund and brother Felix, then three, survived.[39]"
and finally check out a fascinating book called 'The Ghosts of the Titanic' by a Chuck Pellegrino in it one find that - - - -
10) A Ttanic passenger (the book is buried under a debris pile so forgive for not giving the name), a passenger famously threw his leather wallet over board, tossing it from the open boat deck. That wallet was actually recovered during one of The Titanic wreck recovery dives, it's content preserved, AND because its location was known, it became a touchstone for figuring out the Titanic's break up, position, drift etc....
Hope that satisfy
Peace....

White Star Line was the company that built the Titanic, and was owned by J.P. Morgan, an American tycoon.
The cost to build the RMS Titanic was $7.5 million
RMS stands for Royal Mail Steamer.
It took 3,000 men two years to build the Titanic. Three million rivets held its massive hull together.
The Titanic was never christened. It was not the practice of the White Star Line to hold such ceremonies.
Price of a single first-class ticket was $4,700. (equals $50,000 in today's economy)
Although there were 4 funnels (smoke stacks), only 3 were operational. The 4th funnel was for looks.
As the Titanic was leaving the port, the suction it caused actually snapped the ropes of a nearby docked ship. (The S.S. New York) Tugboats had to race to the scene to prevent the New York from colliding with the Titanic. Some people aboard the Titanic and on the dock felt this occurrence to be a bad omen.
There were 6 ice warnings received by Titanic on the day of the collision. They were all ignored by the wireless operator who was preoccupied with transmitting passenger messages.
On the night of the collision, because the moon was not out, and the water was so still, it was very difficult to see the iceberg. A less calm water would have caused breakers around the iceberg making it easier to see it from afar.
The iceberg that the Titanic struck was not a very big one. It did not even come up as high as the bridge of the ship.
The iceberg that the Titanic struck was unusual in such a way that it was not white like most others, but more of a clear look caused by continuous melting. The clear surface in effect reflected the dark night sky and water like a mirror, thereby making it a black object, almost impossible to see from a certain distance. The term for this kind of iceberg is "blackberg", and is similar to the black ice found on cold icy roads.
An iceberg exposes only 1/10th of it's mass above water. With the other 9/10ths of it's mass below water, It makes them impossible to budge. Even with a force of a ship like the Titanic.
The Titanic was traveling 22.5 knots while cruising through iceberg laden waters. Just .5 knot from her maximum speed capability.
The collision occurred at 11:40 P.M. on Sunday, April 14, 1912.
Murdoch had ordered the engines reversed which had, ironically, sealed the Titanic's doom. Like all ships, the Titanic turned more quickly the greater her forward motion. Had the Titanic proceeded ahead and turned, it is most likely that she would have avoided hitting the iceberg all together.
The gash that the iceberg cut into the hull of the Titanic was between 220 to 245 feet long. The total length of the ship was approximately 882 feet.
Though the damage in the hull was 220 to 245 feet long, the most recent evidence shows that there was only a 12 square foot opening (the size of a refrigerator) in the hull allowing water inside the ship.
The "watertight" compartments of the Titanic's hull were not actually watertight. They were open at the tops, which aided in her demise.
The ship could have stayed afloat had only four compartments flooded... Five became flooded.
1,503 people total died, including passengers and crew.
Only 705 people survived.
962 lifeboat seats were required by law.
1,178 lifeboat seats were carried aboard.
2,208 lifeboat seats were needed.
One of the first lifeboats to leave the Titanic carried only 28 people; it could have held 64 people.
There were 472 lifeboat seats not used.
There were enough life-jackets for all 2,208 people, and most everyone was wearing one.
300 dead bodies were pulled from the sea the next morning. They were found floating in their life-jackets. Many other floating bodies were not found because they had drifted off.
Very few people actually went down with the ship. Most died and drifted away in their life-jackets.
The temperature of the Atlantic at the time of sinking was 31 degrees. This temperature was the biggest cause of death among the population.
There were many dogs aboard the Titanic. Two of the dogs survived.
Orders from the Captain were that, women and children were to board the lifeboats first. One man, Daniel Buckley, disguised himself as a woman to get aboard a lifeboat.
Charles Joughin was the only person to survive the ice cold Atlantic water...He reportedly had been drinking heavily.
Of children fatalities, only 1 child from first class died, while 49 children from steerage died.
Passengers rode the stationary bicycles in the Gymnasium to pass time before the ship sank!
The band played music up to the last few minutes before the ship went under. None survived.
One of the last songs the band reportedly played before their death was, "Songe d'Automne".
As the ship was sinking, the stern rose out of the water, and broke into two pieces between the third and fourth funnels.
The Titanic lies 12,600 feet (over 2.33 miles) at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
The two pieces of the Titanic lay 1,970 feet apart from one another on the ocean floor.
Because the front section of the Titanic went down nose first, the bow is buried 60 feet below the ocean floor. The huge gash is also buried. (Recent technology has allowed visual access to the damaged area of the hull)
The Titanic was rediscovered on July 14th, 1986. 74 years after it sank.
Only 6 of all the survivors of the Titanic tragedy are still alive today.
According to a web site.
