Lets say you were walking with your 4 year old daughter and some thug runs from the woods, snatches your daughter from your arms, pushes you down (cuz you were no physical match for him) then he runs off with her, rapes her and later kills her. Awful scenario, I know but needed.
Sure would have been nice if you could have pulled out that Beretta Tomcat and put a cap in his azz eliminating him and the next 40 years of constant pain.
No one is saying give one to the hot head next door, so he can shoot the soccer ref when he makes a bad call. There are guidelines. It would be nice to have a thug think before he acted, like...gee, I wonder if she's packing?
Just don't take advise from some fat moron (Rosie O'Donnell) who says you should not be able to protect yourself while she has armed body guards at her side.
I know it sounds cliche' but criminals have and always will have guns...good people should be allowed to protect themselves. I carry everyday and feel pretty comfortable knowing I have it if needed. I have had some unpleasant situations and have never needed to refer to it so far..I'm a cop so I have that luxury, so should you.

1) Why should I be underarmed if someone more armed than I am tries to harm me?
2) If my legal gun becomes illegal by a new law, what about the illegal guns owned by criminals?
3) Would Virgina Tech or Columbine have been as bad as they were, if legal aged, responsible adults were allowed to possess a legal gun with a CCW permit?
4) What if I owned a business, and each day I had to drop large amounts of cash into a bank's deposit drop box?
5) What if I like the shooting sports in a safe and secure setting?
Just some of my "question-answers!"
Guns are safe to possess and use in safe settings, when possessed by responsible adults. The problems with most gun problems, can be cut down by a high percentage, if some people had just a very small amount of common sense. I own firearms, I have a nephew who is almost 3 come over my house often, and EVERYtime he comes over, my gun is locked in a safe, NO way will he get his hands on it. But I keep it in my nightstand when I am home, because if something happens, at the moment of truth, I will not have the time to open the safe and get to it! People should look into the law, see where and when you can carry it, and base their opinions on what the law says, if someone carries a gun in an illegal way, why should I pay the price? Many people cause deaths driving while drunk, but there is no talk about banning cars. Think about it!

You do as many in America. You equate gun control (you can't have a 50 caliber machine gun) with the right to bear arms. You assume those who are for controlling some types of weapons, or people who have access to them like felons and the mentally ill, are anti-2nd amendment is wrong. Some may think that way, but then some on the other side think they should be able to own an M-60 Tank!
The primary argument for the 2nd amendment that in time of crises ther would be those who could be called, and so said the US Supreme Court. The other issue is obvious:
[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government. The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

professional A nicely regulated defense force being had to the secure practices of a loose State, the main appropriate of the people to maintain and undergo hands shall no longer be infringed. It is one of the last 'rights' we have as Americans that this country was founded on. Once you give up that right, you will NEVER get it back.
Some of the advantages to having the right to bear arms is it discourages other countries from trying to overthrow our country because nobody in their right mind would try to invade a country not knowing which of the 200,000,000+ people are armed. If guns are outlawed, then this would be easier for a foreign country/coup group to accomplish.

We have always been granted the right to protect ourselves. The parts of the country that have the strictest guns laws have the highest crime rate.Coincidence? More people die in car accidents. Should we ban those? I heard someone choked to death on a Jolly Rancher the other day. Should we ban those?
