So I am starting my own feeder mice, and I would like to know a few things before I start.
1. How long should I keep the male and female together to be sure that the female was inpregnated? I was thinking three days.
2. How long will the female be pregnant for? A week, two weeks.
3. How many containers should I have. I am estimating three, or four. One for the male after mating, one for the female and babies, and two for seperating the male and female mice when ready.

Timing is everything or you WILL end up with a million mice.
1. Should not be more than a few days
2.Gestation is 19-21 days
3. Have one or two more than that, to split up genders before it gets out of hand

The males actually make good parents. You can leave 1 male and 2-3 females together in a 20 gallon tank. Use aspen for bedding, not pine or cedar. Fresh water bottle, rodent block for food. The female is pregnant about 19-21 days. The babies can be weaned and separated at 3-4 weeks old. The male will breed with the female soon after giving birth, so you'll have a continual source of mice. If you get too many, separate them but remember mature males will fight each other.

do NOT leave the male in there, as suggested. yes the can make good parents, but as soon as the female gives birth she goes into post par tum esters meaning she can ready to breed again. this is not good for your female or for the babies inside and outside her, she'll be supporting too many at once. it can also result in the mother killing the babies since she'll feel low on resources. if you leave the male there you'll breed the female to death very quickly.
