the construction of priviledged community compounds for Americans working for US company's and US government officials operating in poor, hostile, or anti-American countries in Africa, South America, Asia and lastly, the Middle East? What does this trend in enclosure activity which intentionally insulates the wealthy from the less fortunate around them say about the future of American Society?

religionisstupid is a YA troublemaker. He has asked 16 Q's under his current username. A representative illustration of his sick attitude is suggested by one of the Q's he asked taken from his own homepage: namely, " Do you think babies and brocolli makes a delicious main course for dinner?
How about with some wine and maybe a baked potato? Delicious? Nutricious? Yummy? mmmmm?

The trouble-making racist post was reported and it was deleted in record time. It is good to see YA take action so quickly to keep YA Q&As clean of such scum.

Eric your historical comment about about building walls to keep out the Barbarians does not address the specific Q asked. Why bother to post an irrelevant A?

The separation of the classes, as in south America, will be the down fall of our society. Once a critical mass has reached a revolt will break out just like in France.

Gated communities are not just for the rich! Many of them have diversified socioeconomic groups. Agreed, you will not find folks who make a salary at the poverty level within these walls. However, if these folks would like to rub elbows with the more financially secure then maybe they should have thought about it more in their youth. Instead of using crack or getting knocked up every year till they have 10 kids with 10 different Dads etc. etc they should have stayed in school and worked hard to save some money! They are many people who have done this, by the way and can if they wish buy a lovely home in most gated communities if they so choose.
People in gated communities are mostly middle to lower upper class. They work hard for their money and want the American dream without having to put up with those who are always whining about their lives instead of trying to make their own life better. They should not have to worry about being robbed
or worse yet being murdered from one day to the next.
Also if you were to take a survey of how many millionaires live in gated communities I bet you'd be surprised by the results! Most of the very wealthy live in huge mansions on several acres of land which have no connections to any gated community. The very wealthy could buy the entire gated community! They live on islands and mountaintop retreats. they live on acres and acres of private estates. Gated communities are for the middle to lower upper class.

I LOVE how N iggerHater reveals his true, ahem, colors. About gated communities, he says, "...every time I see them," which clearly means he doesn't live in one (and undoubtedly can't afford to).
Maybe gated communities are really saying, " 'N iggerHater' keep out!"
LOL!
Racism takes a lot of mental energy, I guess, but it's obvious N iggerHater doesn't have the brains for it...

people have been building walls as long as there has been civilization. this is usually brought on by insecurity and a feeling of inability to defend themselves. it is human nature to want to be isolated with your own kind. however that doesn't make it ok.
