Chances are anything that thea team would have a descent chance of scoring. (i.e a shot off the post). also any odd amn rush is condisered a "Chance".

It's unofficial and not kept by the league. However, many teams consider a good scoring chance as a shot that is taken in the triangle formed by the two faceoff dots and the goal, and count it that way.

i really don't know, but i'm guessing they are an un-official stat that somebody judges when they think it was a chance to score, or a scoring chance that missed the net and didn't actually count as a shot
but i'm not sure
