Everything else seems to be fine. But every so often, the entire screen will flash yellow. It's like somebody put yellow cellophane in front of the screen. I notice it when I open some things, like the Internet (Mozilla Firefox) or Microsoft Word. But at other times it's completely random. This next part has only happened once, but I left the computer on and it went idle. After that, I moved the mouse, and everything on my computer screen was the same yellow color! I didn't move the mouse or push any keys, but I left for a minute, and when I came back, the screen was normal again. Does this mean my computer is about to crash, or does it mean that I just need a new monitor? Please help me! I can't find anything else on the Internet that says anything about this!

It most likely IS the monitor. Trying moving or wiggling the monitor cable that attaches to your PC the next time this problem happens to see if the yellow tint goes away. It has happened to me before, and I would recommend buying a new monitor if it gets to be too annoying

Sounds like a monitor problem. The change in screen is not entirely happening thru the electronics in the monitor. Other possibility is the graphics card (chip).

First check monitor connection to the computer (cables all plugged in correctly and tight), second try another monitor and see. If it does similar, then your graphic card is most likely the culprit. Also you can test your monitor on another computer.

I'm guessing the monitor, or at least the graphics card. Assuming that everything else is working fine, then I'd try and get a new monitor. If it's not the monitor, then just get a new computer without a monitor - as you have just bought yourself a new one.

if it responds to something that you do to the computer softwarewise (opening a program) then it shouldn't be your monitor. Jiggle the cable to make sure you have a good connection, and then have one of your computer inclined buddies come over and look at it. It needs to be personnally inspected before the cause of the problem can be correctly determined.

It looks like you may need a new monitor or perhaps some image has been burned into your screen. .Run a virus scan on your computer..it's also possible that you may have been infected with a keystroke virus.. If none of this odes anything, I would say to purchase a new monitor!

You have a CRT monitor?

The monitor is on the way out. The blue video amplifier or blue gun in the CRT is failing.

It could be in the onitor, or the CPU. Ask a computer tech and see what he thinks. He may have to look at your machine.
