Right now we celebrate 6 holidays between Nov. 1 and the end of Feb. Wouldn't it make more sense to spread them out better? And do we really need to follow the traditions when so many have become secular (no longer "holydays") or aren't celebrated by most people for the objectives intended? How many of you attend a memorial service on Memorial Day rather than spend it at a family picnic? Why celebrate Christmas on Dec. 25 - why not just have a "Winter Holiday" on the 3rd or 4th Monday of Dec.?

I don't think so.

Popular culture consistently tries to "steal" holy days and make them secular holidays.

This happens with Christmas, Easter, Mardi Gras (the day before Lent starts), Halloween (the eve of All Saints Day), St. Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's day.

Popular culture lets you celebrate the holidays as long as they take all religion out of them.

When was the last time you heard a religious Christmas carol in a shopping mall?

It is an ongoing effort to keep God and faith involved in these holy days.

With love in Christ.

Personally, I have a problem with taking Christ out of Christmas and declaring it a "Winter" holiday. Maybe we should allow individuals to choose four or five holidays per year they wish to celebrate that have personal meaning to them, for which they can take time off work. Then we won't have to worry about what's politically correct and whose feelings are going to get hurt when we celebrate. This PC-oriented world is very much like communism, when everything loses its meaning in the name of being fair and equal.

any reason for a good time and celebration of life... Santa is doing fine where he is... it's Easter that could use a face lift the only thing coming back to life is the plant life in spring the new leaves, flowers... the return of Flora spouting out every where.... don't forget she helps Santa showing her endurance through the winter evolving into something that can stay green all year round no matter the climate.

What about the people for whom these specific days do have meaning? This is something they did in Communist countries to make everything "equal." Of course, they found out that fair to everyone is actually fair to no one.
