Along with all the other answers, don't forget the IS350 costs about $5000 more then the TL or G35 once you've equipped it the same. For the same amout of money as the IS350 is going to cost you I'd be looking at the BMW 335i. However, I would save the $5000+ and buy a used 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6R sportbike along with the G35sedan instead.

I test drove both the Lexus IS350 and the Infiniti G35. I liked the IS350, but a fully equipped IS350 was about $5 grand more than a fully equipped G35. I ended up getting the G35 instead. Engine is better and has been highly rated and although the IS350 was a little faster, the overall options on the G35 were better than what I thought of the IS350...sound of engine, ease of use, handling, etc... Only the G35 is the runner up to the BMW 335 and the BMW will cost you even more than it Japanese counterparts... It is really up to you and your preferences...... You just need to test drive both of them to see which one you really like the most. I was opting for the cheaper option and did not regret it at all ; )

Good Luck! Go with your gut instinct! No matter how much research car margazines give you, you are the end user and should enjoy the car that you purchase...

Definitely read those magazine reports. They are a wealth of information and entertaining too.

In my case, I did consider the 07 G35 and the IS350 but had some issue with both. The IS was just too small and it was expensive. I just didn't like some of the curves on the G35 Sedan. It did look decent for a 4-door but something just bugged me. If I had to choose between them, I would have gotten the G35 with no regrets.

I also considered a BMW 335 but I've never been a European car guy. I also wanted to see the reliability data on the turbos before I dove in. The TL just wasn't in the same class; The front wheel drive just blew it.

I ended up getting an Infiniti M45.

They are definitely NOT the same engine! The VQ35 engine in the G35 is light years ahead of the IS350, and its won more awards than I can count. Its PROVEN to be one of the best power plants on the market. The G35 also handles much better and communicates back to the driver much more than the soulless IS350. The G35 is also bigger and has much more rear passenger room. The IS350 literally has about as much room as a Scion tC or Honda Civic Coupe. The IS350 is fast and nice to look at, but its SOOO BORING! Also the Acura TL is a nice car, but the driving dynamics of a high powered FWD car are unforgiving, and if Acura wants to play with the big boys, they desperately NEED to develop a RWD platform. Furthermore, the G35 is the superior car. Most comparison tests will say the same -- also the G35 is one of the few to beat the almighty BMW 3 Series in a head-to-head comparison test.

PJ Mick hit it right on, and I know I'll vote for his answer as best. I've driven the TL, IS350, and G35. I got the TL in '04 and traded it in for an '07 G35x because of the AWD (I know you aren't talking about the AWD G, but I'm just saying that that's the reason I got one). The IS350 felt faster, but it didn't handle as well as either the G35 or (get this) the TL. The TL had some benefits over the G35, like better fuel economy. But overall, the G35 and IS350 are pretty evenly matched. I'd get the G35 if I were you just because it handles better, is more of a driver's car, (IMO) looks nicer, and (I know this isn't a big deal, but) the engine in the G35 sounds awesome.

But don't just take my word for it, test drive them back to back and see which one you like better, either way you can't go wrong.

once you're finding for a family contributors vehicle, the ES 350 is a thank you to pass. The Infiniti G35 is extra of a pastime sedan, like the Lexus IS 350. that is focused extra on overall performance, capability, and velocity. The ES is extra focused on luxury and protection. that is in all risk a extra logical determination. in spite of the actuality that, the G35 could artwork as a family contributors automobile, however the rear seat is almost small.

You've gotten some very good responses, so here's my two-cents worth. I prefer the G35 because it is a better driver's car. Two people mentioned that a comparably equipped IS 350 is nearly $5,000 more and this is correct . 2 things about this number: first this adds $100/month to your car note for 5 years assuming good credit and secondly, for the price of the IS you could consider a lightly equipped M35. The M is an even nicer ride.

Bottom line...both cars your looking at are great choices and will be capable of lasting over 200,000 miles with a minimum amount of maintenance. The only question is do you want chocolate or vanilla?! Good luck.

They are not the same engine - Infiniti is a Nissan product, Lexus is Toyota.

The Lexus is faster - but somewhat smaller. They're both excellent sedans, drive both and pick one.

I would also recommend checking the Acura TL too - it's front drive but still a great driver.

It's an even match. However, it comes down to whether you want a sportier vehicle with a firmer ride, or a plusher one.
