ChantaLei.
It's actually pronounced :
Chan (say Shan)
Ta (rhymes with duh)
Lei (as in a Hawaiian Lei or like Late)
with the emphasis on the 3rd syllable.
Be honest, but gentle. It is actually my daughter's name.

This name means Song of the Heavenly Child.
I don't have any idea "where"it came from. It just came. I didn't even know what it meant until my adoption lawyer told me. Then I looked it up and he was right.
There are lots of nicnames that can be used for her. I use Chan. She however is nearly 4 and tells everyone to just call her ChantaLei.

She will have to be prepared to have it misspelled on every document she every needs. Also she will never be able to have an item with a preprinted name. That was important to my daughter who wanted a pencil/calculator/bike license plate and couldn't get one because the names are so limited.

I'm not sure. It sounds like it should be a first and a middle name. Chanta Lei. You know? I does kind of sound like chandelier, but it is soft and feminine. I could get used to it.

CHANTILLY LACE, with a pretty face, a pony tail...,
That was the first thing to pop into my head. It's very unusual. She may want a nickname to make life a little easier.

As long as you are prepared to explain to everyone the origin, the pronounciation and spelling. Same goes for baby.
I always have to spell my name after I say it- people always think I am saying 'Wrong'

It's really original, I like it!
But, a little too over the top for me to give it to my kids.
All the more reason that she is going to grow up a unique girl! :D

I like it. It sounds pretty. I think she's just going to have to spend a lot of time telling people how to pronounce it.

Its a nice name. It is clearly a girl's name, which is helpful to us. I don't know about the capital "L" in the middle of the name, though.
