At least a bachelor's degree in English (or Journalism) along with plenty of experience. Those types of degrees will show you have knowledge of reading, writing, and editing -which are essential for an editor. While working toward your goal, you'll want to work on your school's paper and look into internships that will get you both experience and college credit (there are plenty of opportunities for this out there). Good luck!
