He was signed as a free agent from the Domican Republic in 2002 by Eddy Toledo.

I am not positive but I believe he was drafted out of High School possibly by the old GM Steve whats his face. I honestly don't remember. Either way the Mets scouts picked him out of High School i believe and they couldn't have done a better job.
