I salvaged an old cookie tin when my brother was moving. It has a beautiful rose pattern on a black background. The inside, however, is rusted. I need to seal the rust so that I can pad the bottom, sides and under the lid, and then line it with material. Does anyone have any suggestion what to use?

Tape off the edge and protect the outside
spray paint with enamel rustoleum or any paint really since you are going to line it.
Padding is nice but not neccesary, you can use felt or if you want just a little pad use fun faom and felt over it.

To seal motorcycle gas tanks from rust, I use a product called "KREEM".
