You can't go by what other people do (or say they are doing), you have to choose your own path and do what is "normal" and right for you. But no,in general I'd have to say that what you've described is not a very common thing.

o my word how can people be such idiots. you really need to get away from that sircle and get some real friends. cause they are not real friends at all, cause friends would respect others relationships and they defnitly not. the sooner the better for you to get away there cause with standards like that you are degrading yourself and won't ever have any trust of respect in any relationship and can't see any of that for you in the future if you stay being friends with them. friends can play a big roll in your life and you are going to be very lonely, sad and no selfrespect later in life if you don't act now and make a move away from them.

maybe i am old fashioned, but i have never looked at another man since the day i met my husband and i can say with some confidence that i believe it is the same for him. i am aware that people are far more lax now, but that kind of thing generally leads to tears

Erm now a days nothing surprises me but can't say I've met any people like this. When I took my marriage vows I meant them and my friends are the same!

There are people whose values allow them to live this life style but it is not the norm. Most people are happier with a partner commited to the relationship. People looking for causual sex will reap what they sow and that is not true fulfillment it is immediate gratification.

oh hell no this is not normal! I suggest you find some new friends that have some morals and take their marriage vows seriously. Marraige is supposed to be sacred. Not the mockery that your friends are making it out to be.
