I know exactly what you mean. I think this is probably quite common for people to feel like you do. I usually find if i'm going to be with somebody for a long time, and it's one-to-one, there much deeper and less superficial. In a group people chat crap.
Also I don't know how old you are, but if you are talking to people 30+, it's not so bad.
Don't try not to be a deep thinker as it's a good thing.
Good luck.

I think you'll find you are part of a minority.
Apathy is the way for most people. Society is wrapped up in an American attitude at the moment which is based around selfishness and money.
Everyone has to look good and have good possessions instead of being a good individual. I sometimes feel as though I'm the only person who cares and sometimes I actually believe that I am wrong to care. I think about everything, from the environment to the suffering of innocent humans being across the globe. I hear of starvation, wars, murder, rape, slavery, child labour and corrupt governments; I feel it all, my heart screams for these people. I yearn to be able to do something but I know it is too far beyond my reach or comprehension. I doubt religion when I think of the suffering and fail to understand that a creator can just allow this world to be ravaged by evil. If someone looked upon the earth and man with such love how can he allow that to perish?
I am beginning to favour the theory of evolution and I feel that there is no reason why we are here other than to procreate. I have no children and doubt I'll ever have any. I couldn't face bringing another human being into this world to suffer like the rest of us. Don't get me wrong, I love life but I don't think life loves us. Money and apathy is the answer. The more I earn the more I can switch off and fly away from my problems.
Someone told me that I was too deep. I said, "Well, we all know what the opposite of deep is."

Good question, I sometimes if I shouldn't ask for this, & God alone is my best friend & anything more is a luxury...
But I am also a deep thinker, that's just the way I am, if we were all the same it'd be so boring....I sometimes really admire humourous people & wish I was that way too..
I don't have anyone whom I can connect to in that way, it'd make life sweete. I don't think most people are selfish & superficia; but some are, but not many are interetsed in deep thinking & spiritual or philosophical debates. whenever I meet someone like that, I talk & talk !....(& listen)
Maybe join some societies or clubs?

Gosh! I totally agree with you.
I find that most people I meet, certianly on a work capacity are nice people, and I get have a relationship with them, but it isn't one of true understanding and compassion. Most people just want an easy life and I think it is on this most relationships are based...like how people say, "I work with them, but I wouldn't go out on the weekend with them"...
I get frustrated sometimes by how superficial people can be, or how many people only truly care about themselves. I do probably have 3 people in my life I truly have a bond with, and really, thats enough!

No... Not a lot of people I really connect with, but I can relate to everyone. This next part of the answer treads more on psychology. There are certain types of thinkers. Within these classes of thinkers, you will find some to be more prevalent then others. So if you are one of the rare classes, it can be hard to find others like you. Creative Theorists are the rarest, (6 out of 1000)... if you google "Creative Theorist", you can learn more, and even find a IQ test to find out what you are.

You can't take life too seriously or spend it all in deep reverie. But I don't criticize you. In fact, I'm a little bit like you. I, too, take life seriously and I can't find many people to talk to. The only person who is pretty much on my wavelength is my mother. We see life for what it is and we strive to maintain wisdom, compassion and humility. These days too many people think inwardly--materialistic, vain, greedy, selfish. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I know there's more to life than money, materialistic items and much more to the world than me. I hope it's not our fate to walk through life alone in our thoughts more often than not. Sad to think that people with heart and soul are an endangered species, don't you think?

A good friend of mine says I am very philosophical.
I have very few people in my life and I do not connect with them much on a emotional/ intellectualy level.
There is nothing wrong in being a serious or deep thinking/ feeling person.. just dont reveal that intense side of urs to anyone who do not understands u.

I feel like I am on the outside sometimes. I have been described as thinking on a different plane as others. I am going to add you as a contact, k? I see people's superficiality quite often, as I am in school. But sometimes you meet someone who truly cares and thinks. Email me if you want to talk.

'Then I think and say to myself - Maybe I take life too serious'
I've been thinking the same about myself recently; I find I have the same problem. But then again everyone is different I suppose. I admire what you said about never changing, well done. Hope you find someone who understands!

Not really, because friends all seem to be married and mortgaged---money money is all that they think of---God bless 'em because they chose that way to deal with "the hand that they were dealt" so to speak. I am a guitarist and philosophy seems to go hand in hand with that----contrary to the "fast-food" mentality and disposable society. Why spend hours playing and learning music when you can just play air guitar or wreck a turntable with rap music? Who has time for reading and intelligent conversation when there's money waiting to be made? Good luck connecting with intelligent life on this earth.--robknightmusician@yahoo.ca
