most often the person has some difference in learning style or rate.
not every person wants to go to university but the schools don't seem to understand that. how often have you heard a teacher say study so you don't end up a truck driver.
i have a degree and now i drive a truck .
my father was a minister when i was a child every time i heard that i felt like getting up and breaking the teachers legs.
one poor girl poor from hearing the stupid teacher say that had a dad who was the local garbage truck owner driver .
i think any teacher who says such things should be fired and never ever allowed to be near a child again ever.
schools must learn to meet the needs of every student .
a student with a learning disability not mental retardation but say dyslexia or dyscalculia should be taught and the teacher who fails to teach them should be fired .
if you stop to think about it what if a medical doctor had such a failure rate. he could not just say oh i had too many sick people come in the hospitail . no he has to fix the people regardless of what the problem is . this is what a professional is . a teacher is nothing but a person who for the most part is a waste of space . a useless person who does not work hard does not even know what hard work is and teaches that all who are not like him or her are failures.
what school teachers can you name that have really done anything that history remembers . i can remember and know of teachers who told famous people who became great successfull people who invented or discovered things that they would not pass or were stupid or should give up .
that is what i know of teachers.
an entire new system of qualifications is needed to be a teacher further more the student pass fail rate should be the teachers job preformance review. if 2 years in a row a teacher fails to have every student pass he or she should be banned from being near children and have thier own children removed from them .
this i think is being kind as i really would prefer to see the teachers who fail to help each student pass taken into the school gym and hung this would i think bring about better teachers and end the drop out problem.

they find it boring, the ciriculums at our schools suck, there is too much emphise on stuff that is not useful in everyday life. like memorizing dates in history, boring, or like crazy math. Even in college i feel as if when i graduate i wont even use half this stuff, but to stay competitive i got to get the degree.

I know a lot of kids in my high school that dropped out, because some dont have money for college and they figure whats the point, so they want money and start working while in high school. It also depends on "home" life if you have someone there to motivate you or support you, you have a better chance, some kids dont have a good home like, like missing either a mother or father, or they are always working. Also depends on the crowd you associate yourself with.

Unfortunately it's likely because they have neither the ability to stick with a difficult situation nor the foresight to see that they're making a terrible mistake. The money a person can make by skipping their schooling is far less than what they'd gain in future paychecks by staying in school.

Kids today have been given too many "rights" and choices that they are ill prepared to make in a mature manner. Being a "kid" is wonderful - enjoy the ride while you can!! Soon enough you'll become part of the working class in America that are constantly struggling to make payments and keeping food on the table . . .

i was bouncing around from one parent to another when i dropped out. i had been to three diferent junior highs and three diferent high schools. but i put myself into a military acdemy for six months. and graduated that with a GED. then i left for the service. i think people dropping out has alot to do with whats going on at home. the ones that have an unstable home life worry less and less about school. verses the one that have that healthy home life. and our looking forward to there parents being there for a graduation. i was dreading that. cause my mom would just tell me later how much of an a hole my dad is. which she did anyways. and she did at my brothers graduation.

I think many of them are just lost and bored. They need to find something they are really interested in, that they can excel in to make them stay motivated to stay in school. i think many of them feel misunderstood or like they just don't fit in anywhere. It is hard to concentrate and focus on your studies when you are feeling so uncomfortable and out of place. Others just decide to give up because they are just too lazy & really don't care about school, responsibilities or anyone but themselves at the time. I think these kids need their parents to be parents & get involved with helping their kids find some self confidence & worth. It is sad that so many kids are dropping out, but hopefully, they will all find their ways to go back or at least get their GED's and get on the right path. I think everyone just needs to find their place and their own way.

because all they do now is teach a test. no real learning involved. some schools even encourage the kids that are not doing so well on the standardized test to drop out. so the school will look better.

no child left behind indeed.

many people are taking drugs and ruining their lives. They go down the wrong way and keep going. I say the law about age 15 and up can drop outta school's gay. it takes away the need and requirement of getting an education.

Because most of those dropouts are lazy and/or apathetic about their own lives. It's sad.
