With tubeless tires, I just use a basic punture plug kit and a stripped down electric inflater pump (the type that plugs into the cigarette power adapter). This solution is cheap, easy to use, and have gotten me home a couple of times! You can pick the repair kit up in an auto parts store for 10 bucks, and the pump for under 20. If your bike didn't come with a power adapter, wire one to your battery - should cost about $5 or less for the adapter.

d not use any of the puncture products the liquid gathers in one place and knocks the wheel out of balance, also causes problems adjusting tyre pressure as the liquid tries to seal the valve giving false readings.
carry some self tapper screws and superglue and some inflater canisters, if you get a flat find the hole cover the screw in superglue and screw into hole. Inflate tyre and ride to nearest tyre place for repair.

Ooh - dunno about prevention, but that tyre weld stuff is brilliant for a short term fix until you can get it sorted. Actually, my boyf saw an advert in one of his bike magazines for some stuff like this which you put in when the tyre is new, and it does prevent punctures, it's similar stuff but i can't remember what it's called. Look in the bike mags.

There is a product on the market called Finilek. It's an expanding foam that is injected into the tyre. usually used after a puncture, it is designed to get you home. I suppose it could be used before a puncture has occured.

The only thing sealant has ever done for me was to show me where the nail hole was, so I could plug it. Have had pretty good luck with plugs, the rubber kind, with a head. Never tried the fiber cord type, which you have to coat with rubber cement. New tire is only sure fix.

I wouldn't take the chance and use any sealant on a street bike tire. It will give you a false sense of security.
Don't bother using it on tube type tires.
The only benefit that stuff is good for, is tubeless ATV tires.
