Because the Republicans can not accept the blame for anything, especially Nixon. We have the highest gas prices in history and Cheney smiles all the way to the bank, and the President is oblivious.

Why'd you delete this the first time out? I don't get the "swiftboating" reference, though I know it has something to do with Kerry.
Why is Bush blamed for 9/11 when the problem with Al Quieda escalated under Clinton? Why is Bush blamed for outsourcing jobs to India, but the plan was started and implemented under Clinton? Why is Nixon blamed for Vietnam when it was JFK who sent troops in and LBJ who escalated the war?
Bottom line? The grief took place under Carter and Carter did nothing to solve the problem, therefore, we blame Carter. Or is this another case of liberal Democrats living in their own little bubble world?

Anyone who blames Carter for the 1973 embargo are blaming him for the wrong oil crisis.
He comes under fire for the second oil crisis of the 1970s, which took place in 1979 after the Iranian crisis started.

Mentioned the Carter administration, mental images of long queues at the gas station immediately comes to mind. Nevermind that the embargo didn't happen under his administration, he is blamed for allowing it to continue.

The same reason people blame bush for 9/11 and the economic slowdown after his election. Even though the results of presidential policy usually isn't felt until after their term, it is usually human nature to blame the one "holding the ball", or whoever is currently holding the office.

Jimmy Carter didn't help his position though with his attitude and his inability to work with Congress. I say this with love because I am a democrat. It wasn't all his fault but that doesn't matter. It was on his watch and how he handled it was poorly.
Fast forward to Bush who has mishandled everything from day one and the person coming after him, Hillary I hope, better be on her toes, because she will be blamed also.

It has got to be the loyal Bushies who are pointing the 'finger' of blame. They are very much adept doing that as their tool of self denials.
