Every weekend there seems to be a colossal death toll of American soldiers. At first I thought the insurgents were planning their attacks on these days. Now I realize its only that the government has waited till Saturday and Sunday to release this information. Do you think this is a deliberate ploy by the government to release bad news on days when it will receive the least national attention so as to reduce anti-war sentiment?

That is not true. Try watching the major networks. And if the numbers were released at the end of the week, I am sure that the media would still be reporting it five days later.

Part of the reason is due to the fact that families have to be imformed which can delay the annoucement so a soldier killed on a tuesday may only be reported 5 days later when the family has recieved the news

It`s more a matter of them having to be absolutely certain of the soldier`s identity before releasing such news - and certainly before giving the bad news to the family. Sooooo it would make sense to gather the list of names and release them all together on the same day.
