people dont want to seem insesitive to their family, so gift giving reqires some thought. plus, a lot of people dont want to be creative. they just want to go to walmart and buy something cheap and cliche. i never know what to get for my dad, but thats because he never asks for anything. i get him things he needs like guitar strings, a shower radio, and a new tool box. it doesnt always have to be a halmark gift....thats what people dont understand.

My closest relation i.e my mum lives 200 miles away, i have no idea what she buys for herself so when her birthday comes round I'm not sure what to get her. Personally, quite simply, I have an appauling memory.
If someone hints at what they want, yeah i'll get the hint, but by the time it comes around to purchasing/making a present, I've forgotten what it is.
And iof course, I forget to write it down, lol.
Meh, i just write people poems for their birthdays and give token crap at christmas. I've not enough money to buy everyone presents anyway :)

I know exactly what to get a couple of them, that's why they're closest. The other family members...are as much of a mystery to me as I apparently am to them.
