Harry Wormwood: A book? What do you want a book for?
Matilda: To read.
Harry Wormwood: To read? Why would you want to read when you got the television set sitting right in front of you? There's nothing you can get from a book that you can't get from a television faster.
Agatha Trunchbull: I have never been able to understand why small children are so disgusting. They're the bane of my life. They're like insects: they should be got rid of as early as possible. Hah,
[makes spraying gesture]
Agatha Trunchbull: psst! My idea of a perfect school is one in which there are no children... at all.
Agatha Trunchbull: I cannot for the life of me understand why small children take so long to grow up. I think they do it deliberately, just to annoy me.
Very good movie! I watched it with my children. We all enjoyed the movie.

yes, I love it too. It's one of my favourite movies..
yes, that part with the hat really cracks me up too..lol
I think Danny Devito makes it more funny.
I also like the part when the things go flying around (can'rt remember exact details) & then the fork lands in front of Matilda with a cake!
really sweet movie...

I love that film. I've had it since 1st grade. It's where i learned to spell difficulty
"Mrs. D, Mrs. I, Mrs. F-F-I, Mrs. C, Mrs. U, Mrs. L-T-Y"
"WHY are all these women married?!?"
I love that line.
I also love when her mother talks,
"Snickerdoodle, what did you do to your hair?"
"Take a look at you and me: You chose books, I chose looks. I have a nice house, a wonderful husband, and you're slaving away teaching snot-nosed children their ABC's.... You want Matilda to go to college?"
Or Ms. Honey, "Ok, last time a few of you forgot yourselves. Don't speak unless you're spoken to, don't laugh don't smile, don't even breathe loudly -"
Ms. Trunchable: "Don't breathe at all."
"Okay, we've been working on our 2X tables.... who'd like to demonstrate for us? Okay let's try some together....Two times four is?"
"Eight."
"Two times six is?"
"Twelve."
"Two times nine is?"
"Eighteen."
"(gasp) excellent, you've been practicing. Soon you'll be able to answer any multiplication; whether it's (some thing times seven.)
'(answer)"
"Very good, or thirteen time three-hundred and seventy nine."
"[laugh]"
Matilda: "four thousand, nine-undred, and twenty-seven."
"(!) I beg your pardon?"
"I think that's the answer... thirteen times three hundred seventy nine... four-nine-two-seven?"
[works out problem] "It is."
Lavender: "Wow."
Ms. Honey: "Matilda you know how to multiply big numbers?"
"I read this book last year on mathematics at the library."
"Oh, you like to read?"
"Oh yes, I love to read."
"What do you like to read?"
"Everything. But lately i've been reading Darls chickens... (!) Charles Dickens. I could read him everday."
"So could I."
Alright i'll stop there or I'll quote most of the movie. There's a few line I don't remember because I haven't seen it in a couple years, but I use to watch it ALL THE TIME and that's how I know alot. A very lovely story. Makes you think. :)

Yeah, I remember Matilda. It scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. Even though it scared me, I still watched it more than a handful of times. Hmm, kids will be kids!
