Hi, how did you restore it? Did you reformat or did you use System Restore? If System Restore go back into it and choose "Undo last resotration" - this will give you everything back. If you reformatted you will probably need the help of a professional to access lost data but it should still be in your hard-drive so long as you don't write over it - therefore try and use pc as little as possible until you can take it somewhere.

It is easy to get it back if you used System Restore though so hopefully you have done that - just go to start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore and undo what you did to reverse it.

If you did reformat, have a look here - http://www.recovermyfiles.com - you can see the files recovered before you purchase it, not free but at $69 well worth it if your lost data was precious.

A professional data recovery service is not needed...

I'm not certain if you can find a freeware app. but you can almost certainly retreive your lost photos and other data using commmercial software.

-- Get Data Back is a good one that I've used to recover lost data for people on many occasions.

-- Rest assured your data CAN be recovered without the need of a professional service...

It can be done even if you (or your restoration software) formatted your drive - even across multiple partitions when the partitions themselves were formatted and/or erased.

You should have asked us before you did that, we could have helped you with an alternative. now, it's too late. You can take it to a data recovery company like data doctors or drive savers but it is ALOT of money. Several hundred dollars.

There are several free data recovery sites, however if you have restored the computer, I'm not sure they will work
